Dear Friends,
This
has been an amazing year for me. Playing
with the New England Patriots made me realize that anything is possible.
Two years ago I was retiring from the NFL even though my heart and soul
was still in the game of football.
To be offered a chance to play with a team that achieved
unbelievable goals was a gift that I shall always treasure.
I thank each of you for supporting me and joining me on my
journey.

While I
was in Boston,
our team carried on:
The leadership of
the Board of Directors that makes it possible to keep our promise to San
Diego's youth. Our Board was recognized in
San Diego Magazine in an
article on San Diego’s Power Brokers.
The article stated that our
Board carries more weight in town than most local companies do."
We
can all be very proud that our Foundation was recognized in the
Wall Street Journal as one
of the largest athlete’s foundation by assets while maintaining
operating costs at 12%. Since January of 2003, the Junior Foundation
has allocated over $3 million to
organizations serving children.
Our endowment is over $800,000. We have achieved success but
there is always more to do:
more children to help.
Our major
fundraiser, the Celebrity Golf Classic was a sellout and raised more
money than ever before
The
Teammates Luncheon was especially meaningful as we honored our own Board
member and friend, Bob Breitbard.
The Foundation presented gift certificates from Mervyns to
victims of the wild fires and recognized our true heroes:
firefighters and police officers.
200
underprivileged children and over 200 athletes participated in our Shop
with a Jock® program. CS
Keys served as MC in my absence and did an awesome job.
Board member, Lorne Wilson, sponsored a group of children from the
Oceanside Boys and Girls club to trip to visit the Audubon Society in Connecticut.
This was an amazing trip for these kids, many of whom had never
been away from home.
THE Scholars of
Excellence program continues to grow – the
NFL continues to invest in our program and named Scholarships are
increasing each year.
This year we increased our Thanksgiving dinner at
SEAUS the Restaurant from 650 to 850 people to include victims of the
recent wild fires.
I am grateful to all
of you for believing in the Junior Seau Foundation.
